Apple Pie Recipe

It is always said that “An apple keeps a doctor away”. But there are few people who don’t like eating apple as a fruit. Similar thing is what I experience in my family as well. So one fine day I was thinking to try out an apple pie filling. Also it was the month of July which appears to be a season of apples. This inspired me to make a tasty apple pie recipe.

INGREDIENTS FOR APPLE PIE RECIPE

For the Short Apple Pie Crust

  1. 200 gms Flour
  2. 100 gms Butter
  3. 20 gms Powdered Sugar
  4. Ice Water (as required)

For the Apple Pie Filling

  1. 450 gms Red Apples
  2. 100 gms Powdered Sugar
  3. 10 gms Refined Flour
  4. 20 gms Butter
  5. A Pinch Cinnamon Powder
  6. 7 gms Raisins

For the Crème Anglaise

  1. 250 ml Milk
  2. 75ml Cream
  3. 40gms Sugar
  4. 2 Egg yolks
  5. 7.5 gms Cornstarch

Apple Pie Recipe – Preparation Method

For Short Crust Pastry

  1. Sift flour into a large bowl.
  2. Add diced butter and powdered sugar into it.
  3. Rub in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  4. Add ice water and mix to form a firm dough.
  5. Knead the dough briefly and gently floured surface.
  6. Wrap in the cling film and chill while preparing the apple pie filling.

For the Apple Pie Filling

  1. Peel, core and cut apples into slices.
  2. Take a pan, melt butter. Add apples, powdered sugar.
  3. Once the sugar is melted take it off the stove and cool it for 4-5 minutes.
  4. If juice oozes out, sprinkle some refined flour and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add cinnamon powder and raisins. Reduce and cool.
  6. Put it in the pastry.
  7. Cover with another pastry round and bake at 180°C for 40 minutes.
  8. Cut leaves with the mould.
  9. Dust it with the icing sugar.
  10. Slice the apple pie in 6 portion and serve it with crème Anglaise, whipping cream and strawberry

For the Crème Anglaise

  1. Mix the egg yolks with the cornstarch.
  2. Heat milk with sugar to a boil.
  3. Add the egg yolk mixture to milk and whisk continuously until its thick.
  4. Remove it from the flame and stir it in the cream.
  5. Strain and serve warm or cold.

PREPARATION TIME- 20 minutes

BAKE TIME- 40 minutes

TOTAL TIME-60 minutes
